3 Overlooked Muscle & Strength Building Factors

#1 - Exercise Selection

Squats build big quads, right? Bench presses = big pecs? Not always. How someone is built can alter which muscles are being trained for a given exercise. Some can grow great quads and pecs with squats and bench presses, but that's not the case for everyone. Pick exercises that fit your body rather than following conventional wisdom.

#2 - Exercise Tempo

When it comes to exercise tempo, It’s common to hear, “Control on the way down & explode on the way up.” In many cases, this technique works great but not always. Depending on the goal and exercise, changes in tempo can be used to make the exercise more specific to the goal of building strength, muscle and general fitness.

#3 - Exercise Setup

Should I put my feet here, or there? Right leg in front or left? Torso bent forward or slightly upright? Hand in or out? Answers to questions like these can impact the effectiveness of the exercise. Over time this can be the difference in strengthening or growing a certain body part.
